They will go back on sale 26-31 Dec, 3 days before Diwali and Chinese New Year. There are only currently 5 businesses in Worcestershire who are fully licenced to sell all year round.
You can’t buy ‘adult’ fireworks if you’re under 18 (Adult fireworks are category 2 and 3 fireworks which don’t include things like party poppers).
It’s against the law for anyone to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except on certain occasions (Bonfire Night, New Years Eve, Diwali & Chinese New Year).
Category 4 fireworks can only be used by professionals.
You must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places.
If fireworks are being stored incorrectly or unsafely then they can be removed by Trading Standards.
Cllr Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Communities said,” this has been a busy season for the team checking licenced premises to ensure fireworks storage is safe. The team has successfully closed two unsafe sites and seized fireworks from an unlicenced outlet in the north of Worcestershire. If residents are concerned about a local shop that is still offering fireworks for sale they should let the team know.”
